Future freeware
SMReminder, is a simple alarm reminder. Designed as tool to remind me that I have something to do while I am programming. It’s full name is ‘Smart Move Reminder’ and it will become a general purpose tool that that will be running whenever the computer is on. One of its future tasks will be to show which computer, operating system, and user is current. Since I use a KVM (keyboard Video Mouse) switch and often have more than one operating system on a computer, this will be very helpful. It will not use many resources at all.
I have tested it in Windows 2000, XP, 2003 and Vista. I suspect it will also work in Millennium Edition, and I may have tested it there. Windows 98 is also likely to be compatible.
SMRminder has 3 windows:
1. When you load the program you get the ‘Start-Setup’ window. Where you can set it or start it, imagine that. You can also set the default snooze interval to any number of minutes.
2. While expecting an alarm there is a tiny clock window, which can be minimized. It is always above any standard window.
3. The Alarm window, when the alarm engages, has a snooze function. The snooze function has a variety of easily selectable time intervals from 2 to 20 minutes. If you do not respond to it, it will keep repeating the assigned sound every few seconds.
I have used it as a sleep alarm clock. Your computer going into ‘Sleep Mode’ or “Hibernate Mode’ would cause my program to not wake you.
You can change the sound it makes by changing the ‘Default Beep’ in the control panel.
Coming very soon is Reboot Manager.
Reboot Manager v1.0.7
Runs in Windows 98\ME\2000\XP\Vista.
Most likely Windows 2003 Server also.
Primary uses:
To copy files at reboot or shutdown time to facilitate unattended booting into another partition, or operating system. Could even be used to change any system parameters that can be controlled by swapping an alternate file. Essentially it allows you to have Windows 95 through 2003 all installed in one partition (If you like). It is designed to work with Windows boot.ini and/or Power Quest’s BootMagic version 5 and 6 (possibly other versions). Allowing you to reboot into any other operating system on the same computer without having to be there answering prompts or editing default boot parameters.
Operating systems DO NOT all have to be on the same partition.
Coming soon after is Smart Move 2.2.6. This is the best program I have ever written for my self. I have been using it for over 7 years. It has saved me thousands of hours of time. It’s primary function is automate ‘off-the-cuff’ tasks. Most things it does can be set up to run unattended. It allows me to go do something else.
